Hi everyone. Today I’m sharing with you four steps to email list success.

 According to a recent study,

Email subject lines that are shorter get an increased open rate…

partially because people don’t know what’s in the email. So they will open it to get to the content, and find out what it’s about, and partially because they are all shown. So in the email reader, whatever platform your audience is using to read their emails on,  that will allow them to see the entire subject line.

Tip number two,

When writing emails to your list, I want you to think about it as though your…

Writing an email to a friend.

So when you’re writing to a friend, you wouldn’t use HTML, you don’t send this flashy email with banners and pictures and videos and gifs and links and all these content types to a friend. You just don’t. You might send an attachment you might send a link through to them.

Why do you email your friends? You tend to send them something of interest to them and that’s really what you need to be doing with your email list. You need to be sending an email to them with content that interests them.

So don’t use HTML emails, just keep it kind of short, to the point and full of value.

Tip number three is all about…

Email Frequency.

How often should you be emailing your list? Well, I recommend twice a week at most. So that’s roughly every three days and even when you’re in a sales period, I know that they say more is, you know, you need to email your list constantly to be able to get the open rates in time for launch.

The only thing I am going to do if you’re constantly emailing me about your launch is unsubscribe. I’ve got your stuff if I like you, you’re in my inbox because I like your content and

I will unsubscribe if you’re in there more than two or three times a week.

I just don’t have time to READ that many emails and you’re not providing me with enough value for me to want to read that many emails and even if you are on the value front, providing that perfect blend of value plus sales, I can’t action more than a couple of things a week in my busy schedule and it doesn’t matter who your audience is even you’re in the unemployment niche,  that are sitting at home and you’re giving them tips on how to get a job, their job hunting, they have shopping to do, they have bills to pay, they’re stressing about where their next meal is coming from.

So they don’t even have time to action more than, you know, two things a week, I think is optimal.

And I’m bringing my notes in for tip number 4 because there are certain words that email providers look for to

Send your email to the spam folder.

Some of those include free, bargain, cheap, last chance and using all caps is another big no, no. So there you have it for those of you that would like help building your business online. You can find out more about me at Joy Ireland.com
